The World Is Going Upside Down

From Egypt to China, the political games are being played in the unbolted. Events that would define the world history are fascinating place at alike a swiftness that it has become laborious to predict the course of actions the contact of these events would surpass to.

Egypt on the road to democracy

Hosni Mubarak might have been at the helm of power for 3 decades but the way he is dawning exactly makes him look rickety and brings out the importance of democracy as an symmetry. Few months back, Egypt was a peaceful nation famous for casualty destinations and Oil and suddenly there was a revolt that led to the downfall of the chieftain, whose rule has been unknown with controversies and corruption. In the end, the residents of Egypt uttered " Enough is enough " and ultimately he succumbed to the pressure around him. This revolution has addicted a shaft of prospect to other African countries like Tunisia, etc which have been ruled by dictators and kings for ages and despite being one the rare countries with abundant supply of natural resources, the life for common man remains miserable. As I wrote earlier, the pace at which Egypt got rid of its president took everyone by surprise and this uprising is definitely going to be a landmark in history of world

China cannot be at peace with its neighbors

I agree to the fact that the rise of China has been exemplary and phenomenal and it no doubt is the only nation in the world that can challenge the supremacy of U. S. A, which requires China to show some maturity and become an important strategic player in its region and while China has been trying to hold diplomatic talks with its neighbors, its relations with its neighboring countries like India, Japan, Vietnam remain bad, if not worse. If a recent article published in their ruling party ' s journal is to be believed, they can attack any of its neighbors, if they go too far with their relations with U. S. A.

Though none of the countries have reacted to this news, the diplomatic circles have been ripe with China ' s growing insecurity with U. S. A growing clot in south East Asian region. The only ally china claims to have is Pakistan, which going by past incidents has always been an ally of stronger player and for now, the ball is in China ' s court.

U. S. A is back to its bully tactics

Raymond Davis is no diplomat and thereby does not deserve a diplomatic immunity. His killing of two Pakistani men in so called claimed act of self - defense, makes him look like an idiot and now when he has been produced in Pakistani court and a decision has be to taken be Pakistan ' s court about him, U. S. A acts like a big brother. They have stopped all grants / funds to Pakistan and have canceled all important meetings with Pakistani officials and have promised to make life difficult for Pakistan, if they do not release Raymond.

For god ' s sake, someone should remind U. S. A that every country has their own law and if one of their cow boys commits a crime in the land of Pakistan, he will be taken care by the law of that country, not be some judge sitting in U. S. A. In the past, they had put heavy sanctions on India for conducting nuclear law and guess what, no famine was supported due to their sanctions and India still prospered as a country. Their bully tactics are only going to increase china ' s influence on Pakistan and will hamper U. S. A ' s progress in Afghanistan.

What the World Needs Now Is Love

Halfway 50 years ago the war in Vietnam was honest receipt scorching, the city of Watts, a community at the edge of Los Angeles, had been devastated by turbulence and conflagration; the first of many riots that would befall across America and the seeds for creating the Black Power movement were planted. At the same time, Martin Luther Baron was marching in Montgomery, Alabama for equal rights and copious tender nation confessed as hippies were flooding the streets in the search of peace and love. The writer / historian Todd Gitlin refers to these times as years of assumption and days of rage.

All the incidences I have mentioned occurred in 1965, the same year the classic song was released with the term, " What the World Needs Now Is Love. " The music was by Burt Bacharach and the lyrics were written by a person by the pseudonym of Hal David. The song was rapidly popularized as a metaphor for expectancy amidst all the rage of the times.

Now halfway a half century succeeding, what the world still needs is love luscious love. And if we go back another 100 years or 10, 000 years ago, what the world needed in consequence was also... love sweet love.

Upon thinking of this, a matter necessarily emerges: Why have we human beings not learned from history? The history of our genus is a healthy - soaked balance of ruthless torture and murder; of civil wars, of world wars, religious wars and other atrocities of rapture and hatefulness. And in representation of all this, as the new millennium goes into its second decade, the world is still not at still with itself.

Our world history is not a majestic history although it is written as if it was - school family are raised to rank so - called heroes close as Alexander the Great, Napoleon and others that sought world domination at the cost of human suffering and human lives. Indeed, the history books communicate us of Alexander ' s great triumphs but I have launch none that reports the death, starvation or human torment that he caused in the wake of his victories. Indeed, we hear little of the places he troglodytic behind in ruin and, if you will, stacked with plebeians and... filled with desolate numbers of wretched hearts.

Today most of the world claims to be " civilized " and yet MOST human suffering is unnecessary. MOST starvation around the world, for example, is the result of the egocentric workings of armies and governments. Famine and other natural causes are rare and isolated but human selfishness is at the core of most human suffering... like hunger and lack of medicine. Stark poverty itself is a condition of politics and not a phenomenon of Nature as some would have us believe. Even in America, the wealthiest nation on the planet has ghettos and barrios evolve out of its own system that is elite in the nooks and crannies of its economic structures. Poverty, for example, is treated as being untrustworthy and inept. Loans, if given at all to the poor person, have higher interest rates, in our court system the poor are far more likely to be sentenced for the same crime the wealthy or even the middle class are given " slaps on the hand for. "

In other places of the world - especially in third - world countries - the poor are simply left on their own to survive while, the rich and powerful drain the economy of its cash and other resources. And so in those places cold and ruthless elitism raises its head in a parade of social demigods marching to the beat of self - serving importance.

There will always be richer and poorer of course and there ' s nothing wrong with this. However, what is generally missed in socio / cultural observations is that poverty, like wealth, is usually inherited. Think about this as it is an observation that typically goes by the wayside: Poverty, like riches, is typically handed down, most often from one generation to the next. Indeed, the birthright of the poor, in general, is lack of education and hard labor. In our times, however, labor is not plentiful - the machine has even taken over ditch digging so the entire employment possibilities have been reduced for the laborer and increased for the technician. While this is a signal of positive progression, it is also a reason why the homeless population is growing and often the underlying cause for family breakup. Add this worker ' s - world - phenomenon to our own foreign manufacturing plus our ever - increasing dependency on imports and you have set the stage for a wider gap economic system and the slow deterioration of the American Dream... at least for the many.

So, in this view, there is a narrowing of the gap between third - world detachment from its poor and the lack of concern the industrial country has for expanding poverty itself and so the rapidly growing populations of the impoverished.

Most virtually only a handful of Americans endure the horrors of absolute poverty. That is, the condition of clinical starvation and the death and illness that accompany mal - nutrition. Yet the statistics tell us that 36. 3 million people, including 13 million children live in U. S. environments that experience hunger or the risk of hunger daily. It is said the 3 million children live in homes where meals are skipped or where there is simply too little to eat. This, to me, is a disgraceful condition for the any country of great wealth. In any case, there is nearly a billion around the globe suffering from malnutrition ( the actual count is more but unknown ).

Indeed, poor nutrition plays a role in the deaths of 10. 9 million children each year. Most of the hungry and starving are in Asia, Sub - Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean ( where some drug cartels are raking in billions ), the Near East and North Africa and the least in developed countries. In view of the staggering number of hungry - the undernourished and sufferers of malnutrition - we know that there is enough food produced in the world to feed... everyone. Probably waste alone would tackle a portion of the challenges!

One major challenge to reduce chronic hunger is that the vast majority of the hungry do not have enough land to grow their own food and they do not have the income to purchase enough food. Even in America where urbanization is constantly growing and farmlands are being reduced to become commercial properties - even home gardens are beginning to be a lost opportunity for a great many and anyway the demands for a two - income family rarely allots the time growing food takes. But none of these observations is the major cause for people suffering chronic hunger in the world.

Man ' s inhumanity to man is - the economic and political systems; military might and corrupt governmental power. Millions of innocent people are " murdered " each year by the greed and structures of socio - cultural systems. These systems simply take over control of resources and income, as said earlier. They are dictatorships by any other name. India has an abundance of poor and hungry people but then again so does Saudi Arabia with all its oil wealth and Afghanistan with its billion - dollar drug trade.

As always, there is a lot of talk about impacting the world of hunger by giving aide to the poorer countries and helping them become more productive in feeding their own. And while I am all in favor of making world hunger go away, I should think that we should start by making it go away on our own home front. After all, 36. 3 million hungry people including 13 million children seem like a lot of unnecessary suffering in a country such as our own.

In overview, little has changed since the advent of civilization - our species is still killing and torturing each other in the quest for wealth and power; we still have a world of people impoverished ( unnecessarily ) making up a massive global population of the hungry, sick and dying. We are still constructing cultural and religious conflicts as they were constructed by the warlords of ancient times. Both racism and sexism rages on although, these days, they are clad in all kinds of guises. Will it and can it ever change?

Yes but what the world needs now, as it has always needed... is love. Bureaucracies will never bring this about. The possibility of making a better, safer, kinder and yes, happier world begins with you and me - one should never lose sight of the fact that societies and cultures are nothing other than a collection of individuals. And so while the world has always needed love sweet love the only way that the world will become a more loving place is when each of us become more loving in our own lives.

In this note, I will remind you or the words of Bernie Siegel who said: If you want to make the world a better more peaceful place, you can do it in a decade: Love the children today and they will take that love into the next generation with them.

World History Analysis Compare American Revolution and French Revolution

Charles Dickens ' pre-eminent narrative, A Tale of Two Cities, is set during the French Revolution, involving characters in the cities of London and Paris. This moving tale gives one rest to look at a tale of two nations - - the differences between the French Revolution and the American Revolution.

Unparalleled a few years earlier, colonial America had rebelled, not against abridgement, but against the increasingly tyrannical rule of the British. In America, it was male of property and education, not the unprosperous, who rebelled. For liberty, they invested their lives, their fortunes, and their holy distinction. Ironically, it was the French generosity who stepped in with naval stilt and saved the American Revolution from the limits of omission.

The purpose of the American Revolution was to change the ruling laws, not to smother the imperator. Many colonists, including Benjamin Franklin, had close ties with England. Franklin was the leader in trying all possible avenues of diplomacy; revolution was the last resort. George Washington scrupulously avoided abusing military power by consistently deferring to the directives of the civilian government, and he always put the needs of his men before his own. He refused to be king. Noble of character he was; greedy and power - hungry he was not. American leaders did all they could to avoid anarchy. They sought the help of God in their endeavor, and received miraculous help when it was needed.

The French Revolution, on the other hand, appears to have been driven by vengeance and hatred. Without a doubt, terrible injustices existed, as vividly depicted by Dickens and in Victor Hugo ' s magnificent novel, Les Miserables. The French peasants were at a great disadvantage, because their poverty seemed insurmountable, and they lacked education and money; therefore they had no power to exercise influence on their oppressors. It is unfortunate that they resorted to terror. The mass murder of innocents resembled the ethnic cleansing of evil regimes in the twentieth century. The mindless killing thoroughly disqualified them from any divine assistance. By killing the upper class, and their families, and their servants, and anyone remotely related, they also purged the society of education, law, culture, and other refinements necessary to civilized society. Only anarchy resulted from their efforts. The old oppressors were merely replaced by a new tyrannical regime, more brutal than ever. It was bad enough that some even looked to figures like Napoleon to save them, but that really didn ' t work well, either.

The Americans went on to create a Constitution that is a model of liberty for the rest of the world. This Constitution provides maximum freedom, limited power in the national government, and the majority of the power to the states and people. The success of the nation has been in proportion to the degree of fiscal responsibility and law - abiding character manifest by the elected government officials. Because America was free, she became prosperous. Like many other European countries, France learned the best governing principles from the United States Constitution, only after long years of struggle.

Zulu Musical Instruments, Essential To Develop Musical Traditions In Africa

African music is the music of Africans who live in a great region of 50 nations, each with a proper culture, history and language, South of Sahara. Zulu musical instruments are part of this multilingual culture. African music has some distinct characteristics: the use of reiteration is one of them. Another important peculiar is the polyphony; this is the combination of otherwise musical parts played simultaneously.

The history is decided by the awesome military strategies of the Zulu King Shaka. The King ' s and his warriors ' campaign of expansion is well known in world history. Zulu rich traditional culture includes songs, dances and colorful rituals, Zulu musical instruments are spectacular and original. A variety of Zulu musical instruments are well known, s well as the traditional Mine dance; Zulus have longtime used their music as a cry for freedom.

African music is really rich in modes of expression: drum ensembles are using Zulu musical instruments from the percussion family. Each drummer uses special methods to produce sounds to distinguish his drum from the others. Iron bells are very popular Zulu musical instruments; they are used to produce a repeated sound to help the drummers to play at the correct time.

Zulu musical instruments, rare and very special

The akadinda is a king of xylophone; two groups of African musicians are playing simultaneously. The first group is playing repeatedly the same pattern; the second group plays to fill in the missing sounds. Groups of Zulu musicians play also using flutes, trumpets or xylophones. Each player plays a single note in a strange rotation with the other players. The result is a polyphonic piece, characteristic to African music.

Musical practices of South African people were observed from many years; Zulu musical instruments are obsolete. Venda mbila is an old Zulu musical instrument; it is not used anymore. Reed flutes, contrary, are still very popular. The influence of foreign cultures and civilizations causes many of old Zulu musical instruments to become obsolete.

Musical instruments such as tsonga a horn, ingungu a friction drum, nkoka a drum, pedi a flute, venda musical bow and stick, deze and demba thumb piano and resonatos, umfece ankle rattles are almost obsolete.

To preserve this awesome heritage of Zulu musical instruments, the necessary information was entered into a database; each Zulu musical instrument was digitally photographed to preserve all information about it.

Why Most Filipinos Discriminate Against Indians

Filipinos in the Philippines do not like individuals of Indian origin and have a manly knowledge against them. Taste against Indian people in the Philippines is growing very beefy on a yearly basis and unhappy to hear that most Filipinos are not very educated regarding divergent countries.

If you are a person of Indian origin and so get ready to exterior some insoluble painful reality facts. Most Filipinos are not very attentive to Indian humans and discriminate them with relation to their appearance and Non - Filipino drift.

The substantiality here is that most Filipinos generalise all Indian Nationals as Five Six or Turko ( Five Six business, which is an common not legalized micro - finance business were the Indians, especially the Punjabi Indians who are the skin lenders furnish some specific amount of cash to the local Filipino shop keepers and take back that banknote with some activity at a following stage. It could be on a daily basis or on a magazine basis ).

Scheme a complete nation like India being termed as Five Six or Turko by Filipinos. How sick can that get? India being one of the fastest economic growing nations in the world next to China and being one of the Rose trio, a burly contributor to the world, especially the Asian Economy is characterised as a Five Six. Not all Indians indulge in Five Six, in fact most Indians here in the Philippines work in proper reputed companies and do well for a living. So, I think it is time for most of the Filipinos to realize and absorb this fact that all Indians are not Five Six or Turkos.

Filipinos believe that most Indians are stinky and lack of body odor. This is the reason why many of the Filipinos refer to us as Bumbai ( Bumbai is a tagalog word for onion, tagalog being the National Language of the Philippines ).

The difference between India and Philippines is that most Indians know about world information including India with respect to country information, world affairs and are very friendly to all foreigners in India. But if you look at the Filipinos, they only know about their nation and don ' t care to know about other nations besides Western Countries and are not welcoming to many extent discriminatory to non - white foreigners.

Almost all schools here in the Philippines, do not teach world history or any courses about emerging economies in the world. The courses are focused on Filipino cultures and history, which is good but not learning about world history is even worst. If you ask a normal high school student about the world map or as to where is India, Africa, Europe or China in the world map, he / she will not know. They dont even know how India looks like in the world map. How bad does this get? At least, most high - school students back in India know about the world map and information about different continents and capital cities / statistics of different countries. The education system here in the Philippines needs to be big time re - structured and implementation of world history and emerging nations needs to be enforced.

The reality is that most Filipinos think that there nation is the best when it comes to Asian economy or GDP Growth rate. But the truth is, it is not. You cannot compare Indian economy and GDP or Chinas economy or GDP standard of living with Philippines. Indias and Chinas economy is in trillions and there are more millionaires and billionaires in India and China then compared to the Philippines. The people of the Philippines must accept this fact, we live in a world of globalization and the last thing I want is for the Filipinos to lag behind the race. The world has become more competitive than ever and Filipinos need to understand this fact, learn from emerging nations in the world, and not by degrading implementing racism and discrimination against Indians or Chinese Nationals as poor creatures or treating us like second class citizens.

Just because of how Indian people look different from Filipino people does not give them the right to degrade us or treat us like beggars. I have observed that if I walk on the streets or take a public transportation here in the Philippines, most people, especially the middle and young aged people, glance at me with an angry stare. This is very sad, as this makes me feel more un - comfortable to live in the Philippines. Its like they are trying to say, You are not welcome here so get lost you Indian. This is just utter discrimination and disgusting.

Its sad but the word humanity has lost its place in this world. I love Philippines, the cultural tradition and the food and I want to make it even better if only these issues could be brought into focus and addressed.

The media, I would say is the biggest tool which could assist in addressing this racism discrimination problem against Indians in the Philippines. I have observed that most people here in the Philippines blindly follow the news and the media. So, why not address these issues and start educating the Filipino average people about Indian culture, tradition and its stance in the world economy. Filipino media like ABS - CBN news, TV5, GMA News would be great assets in addressing these issues.

In fact, there should be more implementation of Filipino - Indian exchange programs, like workshops, cultural exchanges, all these would definitely help. But what is the Philippine government doing?

India has so much to offer to the Philippines and in return Philippines have so much to offer to India, so why not make this work?
